What a rigorous protest against an engrained concept of
Indian mind! Most of the youths of India give this opinion on behalf of ‘pk’
and against VHP and Bajrang Dol etc, but there were differences in expressions.
When I saw ‘pk’, it was very soothing to
my mind because at that time I compared it with Voltair’s expression with some
sort of pleasure. But, after watching the video of some the movie theaters being vandalized by some hooligans, I was compelled to rethink on both cases. I am
just giving my opinions here on ‘pk’ and those lumpen creatures.
What
is fundamental about “pk” ?
A very old adage is old wine in a new bottle. ‘pk’ is like
that. Many legendary people, like Charbak, Vidyasagar from India to Voltair,
Hume, Paine, Marx, Russell, and Sartre in other parts of world did the same protestation
against the institutions of religion, god and superstitions. Their manners were
more sharp and prolific than this small fry ‘pk’. Even an Indian Prabir Ghosh
did the same job more methodically and rationally throughout his whole life. Then
what is new and best in this film ‘pk’? After a great history of 3idiots, Mr.
Rajkumar Hirani just did a calculation of popularity and monetary development
for himself with the badge of intellectuality and made this naive and cheap
film showing protests against the businessmen of religion, although the film
did not have anything to say about social revolutionary aspect. What a degradation!
The truth is that the people of India nowadays don’t seem to indulge themselves
too much about the luxury of god. Man, after meeting his both ends and getting
himself entertained goes to the shelter of spiritual activities if he has any
time left. This is modern India. But yes, you can counter me on the fact that
what is the reason behind the overwhelming mass becoming more dense with every passing
minute in those religious institutions. The reason being not religious but something
economic. Actually, frustration of life and incremental economic dichotomy is
responsible for this mob and those religious institutions help in keeping
people’s grievances calm. At present no Indian, neither Muslim nor Hindu, are
devoted or orthodox to their religion. All the religious activities they do are
due to the habits from childhood and fear of not achieving or losing his
prosperity he greed for, unfortunately sometimes one dreams for. Has
Mr.Rajkumar Hirani shown any path for rescuing from the grievances and depressions
of people if one is not going to take resort under religious intoxication? No
he hasn’t. What he has done is ablating their last shelter of living without making
arrangement for rehabilitation. Now, just as VHP is protesting against ‘pk’
might make him feel that he has taken society to another magnitude. If he make
films without understanding the acute reason of activities of modern life, I fear
we might lose a very potential and contemplated director of Indian cinema. May
be youths of India who might not be acquainted with history will think him to
be patriot for making ‘pk’ but ironically he is a traitor compared to the
standards he has set in his previous films.

Last
nail in the coffin …
The danglers under the shelter of VHP or Bajrang Dol
realize that their existing footmarks are vanishing with time. So, sometimes
their chauvinism is outbursting with vulgarity and hooliganism. They are adding
the salt of Hinduism on that crude nature of violence to make this legal and
moral. I know there are no rational and liberal mind at this time that will support
them. Then what is the profit in discussing a sterile subject. I just want to
admonish Indians from the conjuration of VHP or Bajrang Dol who stay under the
camouflage of patriotism because they are nothing but nihilist traitor to the
progressive mind.
